Launched in 1944 with the publication of Jean Anouilh’s play Antigone, La Table Ronde owes its name to Jean Cocteau. During the fifties, it established its reputation with a generation of free-minded, sensitive writers such as Antoine Blondin and Roger Nimier. Over the years, the catalogue was enhanced by authors such as Gabriel Matzneff, Jean- Paul Kauffmann, Frédéric Fajardie, Jean-Claude Pirotte (Prize Apollinaire 2011), William Cliff, and, more recently, Lucien Suel, Thierry Dancourt (Debut Novel Prize 2008) and Valérie Rouzeau (Prize Apollinaire 2012). La Table Ronde also represents some contemporary philosophers such as Jacques Ellul and Michel Maffesoli, as well as the works of the spiritual guide Arnaud Desjardins.
